The Havanafama theater company, in co-production with Artefactus Cultural Project, pays homage to one of the most singular voices in Cuban exile drama: Héctor Santiago. Conceived and directed by Juan Roca, this tribute offers a stage reinterpretation of two of his most representative works: *Balada de un verano* (Ballad of a Summer) and *La Diva en la Octava Casa* (The Diva in the Eighth House).
*Balada de un verano*, one of the author’s most moving pieces, begins with the protagonist’s return to his childhood home after a long absence. There, his sister Teresa awaits him, clinging to routines, silences, and the remnants of a life marked by scarcity and resilience. The reunion becomes an emotional duel where the past intrudes relentlessly, forcing them both to confront what they once were and what they can no longer be.
The tribute is completed with *La diva en la octava casa*, an intense and incisive piece that explores the psychological universe of an artist clinging to her former glory. The work delves into the mechanisms of ego, fame, and emotional dependence, constructing a relationship marked by power, submission, and a complex interdependence.
