As part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence, Artefactus Cultural Project, with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, presents this concert as a space for encounter between historical memory and contemporary creation.
Rony Cintra, a pianist, composer, arranger, and musical director born in Santiago de Cuba, trained in the island’s academic tradition and graduated with a Gold Medal in Musical Composition from the University of the Arts in Havana.
The program alternates original compositions by the artist—piano preludes, the second movement of his Piano Concerto, and the work “Immigrant” for piano and strings—with pieces by Erroll Garner and Billy Strayhorn, among others, in a program that integrates his own compositions with emblematic jazz pieces.
