On October 4 at 5:00 p.m., prominent Cuban writer Daína Chaviano will read her own unpublished poems and short stories as part of the *Fiesta de la Lectura* (Reading Festival)—an event organized by the Cuatrogatos Foundation for the past 14 years to celebrate the presence of the Spanish language and Hispanic-American culture in the United States.

This event, to be held at the Artefactus venue (12302 SW 133rd Ct, Miami, FL 33186), concludes the program for adult audiences titled “Expanding ‘We the People’: Literary Perspectives from Miami’s Latino Authors.” Cuatrogatos has carried out this program throughout 2026 in collaboration with Artefactus Cultural Project and institutions such as Florida Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Jacarlene Foundation; the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs is also joining as a partner for this specific event. Several of the author’s books will be available for purchase that day, and admission is free.
