Artefactus Cultural Project
UNa copa de agua

With the aim of promoting literature written in Florida and stimulating dialogue around this artistic production, the ARTEFACTUS Cultural Project, with the support of Florida Humanities, has organized a series of presentations by Miami-based authors whose works address essential themes for humankind: the cycle of life and death, humanity’s place in society and the universe, love, freedom, and the meaning of existence, among others.

As part of this initiative, a poetry reading by prominent Cuban-American writer Germán Guerra, whose works explore many of these themes, has been organized. Entitled “A Cup of Water,” the event consists of a recital in which the author will share a selection of poems from several of his published books. The reading will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 8:30 p.m., at the ARTEFACTUS Cultural Center, with free admission.

Organized in collaboration with the Cuatrogatos Foundation, A Glass of Water will offer the public the opportunity to hear the author’s own voice, learn about his motivations, and engage in dialogue with him. The reading will include poems from his Personal Anthology, published by Ediciones Furtivas, a volume that will be available that evening.

Germán Guerra’s poetry has been celebrated by critics, researchers, and readers for its sober lyricism, philosophical depth, and thoughtful writing. His collections of poems comprise a unique discourse, marked by the constant presence of time and the traces it leaves on everything that exists.

This activity is part of ARTEFACTUS’s commitment to promoting Ibero-American literature and strengthening the cultural fabric of our community.
